By Carlos de Paula, who has translated over 100,000 documents from over 50 countries and territories.
1) First, make sure the document is complete. Sometimes people make a copy of the front of a document, and there is information in the back and it is not submitted for translation.
2) Make sure there are no typographical errors in the document. If there are, I will not be able to make changes on my own. Once I translated four documents from a client from Ecuador, her name appeared differently in all four documents.
3) If the original document has an expiration date, make sure you get an updated document. Expired documents may be rejected. This is especially applicable to Good Conduct Certificates.
4) If the original is handwritten it is a good idea to transcribe it in the original language before submitting it to me.
5) When you order translation of financial documents (bank statements, tax returns, invoices, bills, etc) make sure whether the recipient requires conversion of financial figures. We will gladly provide it without extra cost and indicate the source for foreign exchange information.
6) Medical documents often have medicine names. These can be local brands, which are not sold under those names in the U.S.A. Unfortunately, we cannot change the name.
